Limited parking is available in front of the Gallery building during the day. This includes disabled parking bays.
Turn left into the Gallery grounds from Chief Albert Luthuli Road and limited parking available on the left. Should there not be space, park on the grass in front of the Gallery.
Safe parking is available in the Legislature grounds next to the Gallery for after hours functions.
Wheel chair access and lift
To access the wheel chair ramp, turn left into the Gallery grounds at the second entrance to the Gallery, off Chief Albert Luthuli Road. Parking is available and security can be called to open the door, via an intercom at the disabled entrance.
Toilet for Gallery visitors are available at the back left of the building, half-way up the back stairwell.
The disabled toilet can be found on the ground floor at the back of the building, next to the entrance to the lift.
Please note that the entire Gallery building is monitored by CCTV cameras.
Security at door
The Tatham Art Gallery has 24 hour security on site. Security Staff will assist you should you have any queries about visiting the Gallery.
The Tatham Art Gallery craft shop can be found just off the foyer to the right, on the ground floor of the Gallery. Mary Kleinenberg is the shop manager.
Shop hours are Tuesday to Friday 10h00 - 16h00.
The Tatham Art Gallery coffee shop is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 09h00 - 16h00, and on selected Sundays when there is a function in the Gallery. Rob Boyd will be happy to assist. Tel 033 392 8327 or email@example.com
Music Revival, in association with the Friends of the Tatham Art Gallery (FOTAG), presents a monthly concert, which usually takes place on the last Sunday of each month. More information on planned concerts can be found at MUSIC REVIVAL and our EVENTS page.
The Permanent Collection
A selection of the Tatham Art Gallery's permanent collection is always on display. Work by South African and European artists is displayed upstairs. The work of KwaZulu-Natal artists is displayed downstairs. A selection of ceramics is displayed in the Ceramics Room.
The Main Exhibition Room
The Tatham Art Gallery displays major exhibitions in the Main Exhibition Room downstairs. Exhibitions change on a regular basis.
These include travelling and researched exhibitions showing the works of groups or individual artists of significance. There are also exhibitions organised by the Gallery that draw on the works in the permanent collection or from artists of KwaZulu-Natal.
The Schreiner Gallery
The Schreiner Gallery is an exhibition space dedicated to smaller temporary exhibitions. Artists may apply to use this space for solo or group exhibitions here.
