The Tatham Reference library is open to the public on Tuesdays from 14h00 - 16h00. The library is currently being upgraded with new books being accessioned and the possibilities of links with the Bessie Head and University of KwaZulu-Natal libraries are being investigated. Access to the internet network would also mean that the Gallery could offer a better research facility for students.
As part of the Library facility, we also offer students access to our archives section which contains research files on artists represented in the Gallery's permanent collection. The archives also contain files on artists that are included in the school curriculum.
The Gallery's education staff and Eve Banach, our librarian, are willing to assist with any queries and research. To use the Library, students are requested to make a booking by Monday afternoon. This gives staff adequate time to prepare the required literature.
